Oh New York...How I've missed you....

Kaz and I LOVE to travel. I think if we had tons of money traveling would be what most of it was spent on. We love traveling and seeing new places…

My favorite place to visit is New York. I always dreamed about visiting and took my first trip my senior year of college. Since then, I’ve visited once a year. I LOVE it!
It’s weird….some days I will wake up and the smell outside reminds me of New York. Then the day dreaming starts about being in the city.

Kaz LIKES New York, but DOESN’T LOVE it like me. Last September I got to go with my cousin Pam. She had never been before and I had never gone with just a girl:) We had a blast!

Here are my top 10 things to do when visiting New York[in NO particular order]:
1. Eat at Pinkberry’s

2. The shopping
3. Run in Central Park
4. See a Broadway play
5. Eat at off the wall restaurants like Fig and Olive[Yum, Yum]
6. Look for celebrities!!!! My first time in NY, I saw Tony Danza, Will Smith, and Arnold Swartzenager.
7. Walk around in Time Square every night
8. Visit Trinity Church[the most beautiful church I’ve ever seen…Seriously my favorite. I never get tired of it.]
9. Visit the meat packing district
10. Sit in front of The Plaza Hotel and just take in the view. I love that area…It’s gorgeous! Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to stay there:)

I’m trying hard to talk Kaz into visiting NY this year…I’ve always wanted to go at Christmas and since my birthday is in December maybe that can be my birthday present;)

Here are a few pictures from some of my visits to NYC.

In honor of this post, I think I will watch a movie taken place in NY! Ha-Ha
Where’s your favorite place to visit?

Oh, I would love to go there! I have traveled all over Europe, but never been to New York!! My hubby tells me that we will all go one day. I know we will! If you love to travel, you should check out my blog. I kept a journal of our recent trip to Germany and France and I just posted pics of a trip we took to Ireland! I think you would like it!

So funny that you wrote a post about NY. The blog I just finished reading was a friend I went to high school and college with who works and lives in downtown NYC! I like reading her blog because I've never been there and I love to hear about city life!

I love going to Florida. But, my dream would be to go to the carribbean to an all-inclusive! ahhh!

Just want to let you know that even if you don't have lots of money, and even after you have kids ... you can still travel. It's called "Road Trips".

We live in NW Washington and have taken MANY Road Trips of 1500 miles or so each way (in all directions). However, a few years ago we decided that we wanted to explore more than the West Coast.

We packed up our van, loaded up 9 of our 10 children, and hit the road ... headed for ... NYC. Yep ... drove all the way there. On that trip we traveled 8,000 miles in 3 weeks and visited 22 states. (Our youngest kids were just 2 & 4.)

Two years later, we took 8 of the kids and headed out to explore the other half of the country. This time we spent 5 weeks, traveled 8,500 miles, and visited 27 states.

Then, just this past fall, I took my first loooong distance road trip without the dear hubby, as I took 7 of my kids and went on a 4 week, 7,300 mile trip through 12 states (without a 2nd driver). We just took off and visited Bloggy Friends. It was WONDERFUL!

So, while NY might be your favorite place without children ... you might find that your taste for vacations change once you bring your first little one home.

Our favorite places ... anywhere with sunshine and sandy beaches. The kids play in the sand and swim while my hubby and I sit in our beach chairs and talk or read. Ahhh... couldn't get any better than that.

Love this post! I'll have to live my dream of visiting New York through you! Unfortunately, my hubby has absolutely no desire to go to the big city. :( He does like Chicago so that may be as close as I get to a big city vacation!
I did surprise him with a 40th bday trip last summer to Sedona, Arizona and the Grand Canyon. We had never been out west and LOVED it. I can't imagine ever going away anywhere else now. I think we talk about going back at least once a day!
Anyway, I enjoyed your pictures and especially like the guys' kickline in front of Radio City Music Hall. And that church is breathtaking.
This comment ended up being way too long...sorry!
Blessings,
Kelli

I have always always always wanted to go to NY. I've come close to going once, but had a change of plans and ended up in SF. Plus I hate flying and since I live in So Cal flying would be a mandatory thing. But someday...

I love NYC! Thanks for your comment, it was easier and harder than I thought. Most of the tough part was mental not hunger. I feel great and will not go back to my old habits. I used a book, Clean by Alejandro Junger, MD. Please feel free to email me any questions. You CAN do it, if I can, you can :)

The first time I went to NYC was during Christmas for my 30th bday! (I'm also a Dec. baby!). It was so perfect! Got to see the big Christmas tree, go to Macy's. It was wondeful. I've been back two other times and am hoping to take one of my sons for a visit too. It really helps out that my BIL live in the city so we have a free place to stay.
Hope you get to go in Dec.!

how about this...YOU and I can go to NYC!!

we drove out to CT this fall (with the kiddos) and then to NYC on our way back home. we only stayed for two days...but i could've stayed for two weeks!! i truly enjoyed every busy moment. the rude people hitting me in the head with umbrellas wasn't so fun...but it was fun to be in the hustle and bustle (even in the rain with two strollers!) my friend lives in brooklyn and works in the fashion district...and she loves it there too! i keep telling shaun i want to go back so badly because we didn't do much siteseeing when we were there. mainly because we didn't want to have to deal with the strollers on the subway. AND i didn't see a single celebrity...but i think i did see some paperatzi! (i don't think i spelled that right) anyways i'm rambling...but you have me wanting to go back even more now!!

I love new york too, and my parents love it, so I got to go a lot growing up. I love San Francisco, and feel lucky enough to live only 45 min. away now, so we go pretty frequently, and just explore and visit all kinds of cool places, and always discover somewhere new to visit, eat, etc. And now we have a pinkberry here in San Jose!!! :) YUM!

Thanks for all the tips. Maybe I can convince him to go with me sometime this year.
